Package came undamaged and fairly simple to put together. If you take the time to 'jimmy' the cam locks it will lay flush with no gaps. No its not solid wood but for the value and what the intended purpose this item is for (no children jumping on bench or hanging on the shelf) it should maintain its quality, only time will tell on that.
