This shelf is relative heavy duty although I would not suggest you sit on it. Assembly and installation instructions are not provided; however, anyone with a bit of mechanical knowhow should have no problem installing it. The shelf has a nice finished plastic coating but I was disappointed to find the interior is sawdust board. I hope the screws do not pull out. Don't over tighten them as they will strip out. For the price you should expect plywood vs sawdust. It does the job but pricy for what you get.
