This shelf bracket was heavy duty, as you'd expect from iron pipe fittings (which is what the sections are) and I'd have used these brackets but returned them to Amazon due to the pattern of the screw holes being a " X" so that the screws missed or barely engaged the 2x4 wall stud. This bracket would have worked if the screw pattern had been a " + " so that at least two screws could have been placed into the center of the wall stud board. Of course, if your wall studs are turned sideways, then the X pattern would work but you'd need very unique wall framing for that to work. The pipe fittings are also permanently welded or cemented and painted over with flat black paint. So, they could not be disassembled so that the part that has the screw holes could be 1/4 turned to achieve the " + " pattern for attachment to the wall. The " X" pattern would be fine for attachment to the shelf because you'd have a wider surface area. So, this bracket needs to have one attachment end turned for a " + " pattern (wall) and the other end is fine with " X" pattern (shelf).
