I love these things! The magnets are huge, & very strong. But a lot of that magnet has to be touching steel/iron. I tried one on the side bar of a shelving unit. & that didn't work. But on the fridge, stove, micro & even file cabinet, they're great. (Originally, I had 2 on my steel entry door in my appartment! I put empty saltine boxes in them to hold hats & mittens.) The dimensions are really good; you can fit 2 rows of spices in them. I even keep my almond & peanut butters in them. They come in a range of prices; I buy the cheapest ones, & the quality is great. They could make them available with holes so you could mount them. (I now have a wood entry door. Really, I never really saw what a waste of space a door can be, until I had a steel door & could put magnets on one.) I don't think command hooks would work. Even empty, they're fairly heavy. Mine are white, but if you like black in your kitchen, I imagine that would look elegant.
